If beer was the only option, Indians would average 12 bottles a month

12 bottles a month seem quite little compared to the former Soviet republic Maldova which averages 17.4litres of alcohol consumption a year. This is calculated assuming that each bottle has 5% alcohol content and each bottle is approximately 650 ml. Or three bottles every two days. 

Other heavy drinking countries include UK and France who average about a bottle a day.
